Our kitchen nook
Has a window from which we look
Past the glass and sash
A wind chime swings
Keeping perfect tempo as it sings
Ash, Elm, and Birch dance with the breeze
John Chapman trees tempt and please
Apple picked before the freeze
Cider fermented after squeeze
At windows ledge a theater
Raise the curtain lace to see
Macbeth performed on stage
By Jays, Nuthatch, and Chickadees
Entertained we throw grain
Applause and praise
With a settled front row gaze
Now that winter has arrived
Scrabble is used to pass our lives
It's difficult to see through frozen window pane
As Jack Frost keeps us quite contained
Grateful our life is truly stable
Seated at our family's table
