Knights Of The Sky Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Knights Of The Sky

(Royal Flying Corps 1914-18)

Like knights of old
Gallantly fighting
Flying coffins of death
Firing pistols, dropping a bomb
Patrolling the skies.

Captured enemy pilots
Feted in officers mess
Honored as worthy foes
Then sent to prisoner of war camps
Dead enemy pilots
Given full military burial.
