La Chanson De Pippa.(Translation) . Poem by Michael Walker

La Chanson De Pippa.(Translation) .

L'annee est au printemps,
Et la journee au matin;
Il est sept heures du matin;
Le flanc du coteau est perle de rosee;
L'alouette est en volee;
L'escargot est sur l'epine;
Dieu est au ciel-
Tout va bien au monde!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is a beautiful short lyric about England in spring, it is early morning, there is dew on the hill-side, and he notices the lark and the snail. The last two lines are justly famous: 'God's in his heaven-/ All's right with the world! ' In some ways, Browning was an optimist.
See Poem Hunter/ Robert Browning/ Poems/ for the original.
