Lament For A Child Early Gone

Who shall fashion for you a silver ferry
Will the mists lift from the seas
The foam of dreams in time
The seafoam, the green of it with pink accents
Shall work for you a cunning boat
As if you were a seamaid's child

With little emblems signifying
The port of entry; a small scrawled note
Pinned with a brooch of pearl of unknown origin
For a child so apt at vanishing
Into moonlight you shall go
To be found in the bullrushes by Heaven.
The bird from its little nest hatched
Fallen out of the tree of the world.
