the Senegalese think fair is foul
‘ a hit below the belt' they scowl
edged out of super-sixteen
by fair-play points, looks mean
but how else, can one push them down?

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM

Senegal and Japan had same no of wins and losses; same no goals scored and goals conceded. Difference was in no of yellow cards and red cards- Senegal had a few more.Fairness looks so unfair, when every player, every team, uses all limbs blatantly to push down an opponent!
Overall rough play is the in-thing with every team; mostly ignored by the referees. Unlucky Senegal!
