Late Bloom(Bilingual) Poem by Perdita Young (Hanna Wang)

Late Bloom(Bilingual)

Rating: 5.0

Beside the withered grass, in cold mist,
When crickets start to mourn for their fate,
A cluster of small yellow flowers
Are in full bloom, well grace the spot…

O flowers that brave the hoar and frost,
Why do your bloom at a time so late?
The gazers are indoors at close of day,
And swans have flown south safely away.

Some say you disdain the dusty world
That only prizes the gaudy things,
And knows not that th' barren also bears
The holy touch of His loving hands.

In the rustling rain I skirt the fence,
Where autumn exhales its fragrance;
Should I sample autumn in a vase?
Thus store season in a single spray.

Yet the live blooms I bear not to pluck,
Though in a few days they would all droop.
I wish that they on my verses stuck,
And bode with melodies and the lute.
