Spare me all your little prittle-prattle,
Your poems of doom gloom despondency.
Things will change for the better,
Not to the tune of a morbid banshee.

There are many good people out there,
Doctors and nurses in the vast front-line.
And many others sacrificing themselves,
While we're safe and snug in our confine.

They arrive back from their long shifts,
Perhaps despondent on what they've seen.
So lets write for them something uplifting,
Poems of soothing calm and pastures green.

God! These people are so stalwart and robust,
Staggering all how they resiliently cope.
So lets give them more than just a handclap,
Lets sing their praises with poems of hope.

For what does it really cost us,
With time abundance on our hands.
To write some cheery poems for,
Simply the best in all lands.
