Life 2 Poem by Leslie Alexis

Life 2

Life is much like a shingled roof
That’s glued tight to make rainproof,
But time and time one goes aloof
And the whole crumbles with rainfall.

The patches tell an honest tale:
Some days bring wind and others hail,
E’en sunshine aids in the assail;
To keep dry, best the roof be wall.

But with such roofs one cannot breathe:
On summer days the blood does seethe;
To getting wet one can concede;
One cannot have it all.

But patch by patch one can repair
And try the utmost to prepare,
But life is such that it will wear
And not truly spent if not in haul.
