Life In Motion Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Life In Motion

Rating: 5.0

Like two pendulums casually meeting
With hearts synchronized and beating
Swinging in unison... utterly euphoric
Like two burning candles with one wick

Without a clue, the movement shifted
Mutual intent and commitment drifted
Goals and needs required different means
Forces began to change our shared dreams

Looking for understanding and giving support
I looked for answers, but always came up short
Our combined unity became inconsistent...
Purpose was uncertain; objectives were distant

Like two pendulums vacillating out of sync
Our perpetual harmony misplaced its link
Destined to separate and change courses
Feeling bewildered and experiencing remorse

Chance meetings and coincidental transitions
Placed us in a realm of curious suppositions
Wondering how and why our affection died…
Going on with our lives with walls that divide.

As the seasons passed and my hair turned gray
Years have soften the pain... much to my dismay
The pendulum is slowing and we often meet
Without angry disputes or blistering irate heat

We now have only best hopes for one another
Accepting the past that caused us to smother
We smile and laugh as only the tolerant can do
With reflection, compassion for one another grew
