Danny Reynolds Poems

One fine night, in the middle of the day,
two atheists knelt down to pray.
Hymn books opened upside-down,
in Top Hat n Tails, and their dressing gown.
...

There is a secret part of me,
a part that few can see.
Like silk, it is the gentlest,
yet as strong as strong can be.
...

High enough upon a ridge
He let the first faint tinge of frost
Cloak him with no cruel
Awakening
...

Another sacred cow has just gone mad
Another failed fanatic waits in line
Another mother guards the tears she had
Another river bleeds in triple time
...

She feigned surprise, when first he saw her ghost
Though all along, her instinct told her so.
This man above all others, knew her most
They’d share the visions others could not know
...

Whet e’er becomes of the essence
of the things they used to be,
some parts are laminated
in their loved ones’ memory.
...

Come fall on me sweet breath of pastures gone
And lift my leaden heart beyond this mire
Send forth a whispered dream, to ride upon
And whitewash all the things of which we tire
...

The greatest gift, I ever bought
Has saved me thousands of pounds
And knocked some time and effort off
Poor Santa’s busy rounds
...

You’re not like a gas flame
or I would see a point of nothingness
at your base
That invisible rush of expectancy
...

The heart, the soul, the mind, the Me
The ideals I find, a mystery
A product of the multitude
of influences, bad and good.
...

Let me take you on a journey
To a land where I once played
Where nature sculpted landscapes
So bizarre, they seemed man-made
...

Once again, the barbaric acts of so-called human beings, leads me and others to question the existence of 'The Supreme Being'. If you have faith in such a being, may he answer your prayers, and ensure justice is done.

I am but a wee paper clip
from wire have I been fashioned
My energy? Stored potential.
No trace herein, of passion.
...

From out the Isle of Shepherd’s Pie
A sight to make mere mortals wince
There came a navy
of potatoes, wavy
...

Lakeland dawns in February, the icing on the Kendal mint cake (Repost)

We welcome in, the burning cold of dawn.
This tablecloth of lace, sans permanence.
...

Entry song, something light
but not too fast.
(Don’t want the coffin-bearers to trip, do we.
Cause some can’t help marchin in time with the beat.)
...

Bag lady? Trampess?
A snap judgement framed in my recall
of a rather preoccupied reader
of a nameless book
...

My cart horse was a hindrance
Toiling slowly up ahead
Plodding unproductively
From break of day till bed
...

Another year, another ring,
around our silver birch will bring.

There was a nutty sheep-dog
Way back in ancient Rome
The Emperor brought him back from Wales
To work in his new home

The Best Poem Of Danny Reynolds

(001) Thank God I'M An Atheist!

One fine night, in the middle of the day,
two atheists knelt down to pray.
Hymn books opened upside-down,
in Top Hat n Tails, and their dressing gown.

The in-verse lyrics from the page,
sung happily with joyous rage.
Two old friends, first meeting each other,
(both my Grandad’s grandson’s sister’s brother.)
With sufficient humility, to make them proud,
in perfect silence, they roared out loud.

“All things dim and dutiful,
all tree cures smate and groll.
All things dense and blunderfull,
what good is a square ball? ”

Cursed by the blessing,
and accepted by rejection.
As welcoming as Ebenezer,
(when it’s time to pass the collection.)

Thanking God for their disbelief,
from their heads up to their toes.
And then with Pious reverence,
they did pick each other’s nose.

These two brave cowards stand as one
In truth they are my father’s son.

You students of genealogy,
must unsurely disagree.
For my Grandad’s grandson’s sister’s brother,
Can be none other than…..
Me!

p.s.: -(Some students of genealogy,
have been giving me some bother.
They’ve pointed out, without a doubt,
it could also be my brother!

If Spike Milligan, Matt McGin and Ogden Nash somehow managed to create a hybrid love child - Danny would be it! Very, very, very, funny poems/songs/stories, plus a few important issues dealt with await the lucky reader. Give him a go....because you're worth it! Hugs Anna xxx

.DANNY-' Right back at 'Ya ' on your piece THAT ELUSIVE SOUND. Besides crankin' out some VERSE when I can muster up a bit 'O down-time, there be nothing more soothing to my Inner-Ear, than some finely vintaged 60's & 70's ROCK pumping out of a High-End, State of the Art audio system. HEY...Looks like you dabble a might with HAIKU..... ME TOO! Have a great week. ~ F. J. R.~

One of the most hilarious, creative and talented poets I have ever had the pleasure to read. He writes with wild abandon, and truth, sparing nothing and no one in the process. If you're having a bad day, just read some of Danny's crazy poems, and you'll be laughing yourself silly in no time. Music for the soul! Linda

GLOOM AND DOOM! ! ! SORROW AND TEARS! ! ! If that is what you are searching for, then read someone else! The only tears shed here are tears of laughter at the wit and wisdom Danny finds through his humo(u) r. Danny, I put that U in just for U...especially typed with a broken finger..for you... Danny can find something funny at a funeral, and writes so well that you have to laugh through your tears. I love his work, because it never fails to make a point, but does it so well. Every day, I search for the name Danny Reynolds to complete my day of poetry reading! You will not be disappointed.
