SHAKIL AHMED
Sometimes I fly in an ethereal height
Throwing away my mundane affairs
Where pain doesn't sting with its thorn,
Sensation of pleasure has no charm of its own
I only feel a mood of languor
With an utterly blank mind.
A drowsiness envelops me from all corner
And I shut my indifferent eyes
Dreams and vision surround my mind
Lending an added charm to my drowsiness
I wish to remain in that mood
For a long time or for good.
I feel like a man
Living in a heavenly castle
Well-guarded by invisible troops
From life's fret and fevers.
I feel like a man
Dancing in wild flowery grass
Forgetting the aches of dull world
That was my constant companions.
Suddenly a heavenly voice
Rings in my ear
And I come back to my world
Trembling with unknown fear
And heavenly voice says in a whisper
That here everyone has to undergo
Its ineluctable fret and fever.
A well-crafted poem. We all have our moments of escape from the reality and specially we poets need such moments for inspiration. Here you speak for all poetic souls but even we poets know that we cant stay in our imaginary world always so we hear the call of reality n respond to it. A beautiful write. This fret n fever takes its toll. That's what life is all about. A10.
Dream world is quite different from mundane world. In our mundane world we go through the real events. We have to undergo here with inescapable fret and fever. It may be quoted your last stanza.... And I come back to my world Trembling with unknown fear And heavenly voice says in a whisper That here everyone has to undergo Its ineluctable fret and fever.
