Light Me A Candle Poem by Adams King

Light Me A Candle

Light me a candle, a candle for the night
Watch the candle melt so should you eyes
Though the candle tears are hot yours should be cold
To kiss me goodbye to a lasting abode

Watch the fire as it melts the candle wax
So should sorrow melt you leaving you with some to ask
Will this be also done, one day for me
When will that be, when will life escape me

Watch the candle plumes as they vanish into the air
So have I gone with silent steps you cannot hear
Where I journey to is far, i cannot turn back
For I'm like the candle you burn which you cannot have

Watch the white candle you hold so was I so pure
For I wasn't killed by any, but by death a sickness with no cure
Oh! Pity me, for he who takes me away I cannot fight
But I will watch you when you hold that light

I know, where I have gone to you is unknown
For though I'm a sinner but too holy for the devil to own
So be rest assured that with the angels I feast
So light me a candle my friends, light me one at least.
