Like A Diamond Lost In The Sea Poem by Paula Glynn

Like A Diamond Lost In The Sea

Talking to strangers
Is like learning a foreign language
It takes skill and determination
Learning a foreign language
Also means learning
To love even the bad words
The bad news and the unwelcome insults
Because all need to learn
The key of communication
Talking normally of fun things
And all the happiness life brings
And to gain a high flying career
Making the heart sing
And the soul stand up and rejoice
And we put pen to paper
We turn on the computer
We think how our poetry
Will affect us in the future
Tears and anger, love and fear
All the rainbow of emotions
Painting words like a masterpiece
That cannot be bettered
But can it be enough?
When we are stone cold dead
Our world turning to stone
But we once were great
Where our value we did debate
For every gem written was ours
And our beautiful dream
Like a diamond lost in the sea.

And we pray above
Looking beyond any shove
The rain and lightning
Leaving us soaking wet
As we stand outside
Wishing we were in the car
Rather than lost
The distance home far
Wishing for money for the taxi
Because we aimed for money
And those enemies we did bet
Would live only with regret
Missing out on those
Celebrity star filled nights
Nightclubs full of the lonely
Yet also full of hope:
Hope that Mr Right and Mrs Right
Shall stay at their side
Well penned love poetry read
Romantically each and every night
Memories of those love poems
Like a diamond lost in the sea.

I write and write
For all the years that go past
And I hope my poetry does last
For I am talented and creative
I strived for a better life:
For money, happiness and freedom
But strangers say this is not so
That I must disappear, must go
Go somewhere else
Before they destroy my health
Enemies from within
Their blood making their heads spin
For they live in the world of sin
Where I used to give in
But I never wanted my work lost
Like a diamond lost in the sea.

But I alone hold the golden key
My life to not end in tragedy.
