SHILU MATTHAI

Lilacs - Poem by SHILU MATTHAI

soft, mauve flowers with an
orange heart, lilacs always warm the heart
her soft fragrance, the gentle lilac flowers,
strung like mauve pearls on an arc,
shake timidly in the sun
a yellow butterfly doth linger a moment longer
savouring the delicate, yet haunting scent.
to sit in a sunkissed lilac bower and
think of you-
when will zephyr blow you my way?
like the lilacs, will you warm
my heart on a sunless day?
