Living Memory Poem by Donald R Wolff JR

Living Memory

The staircase is still creaking somewhere within yesterday
A memory of life when children were at play
Some stories end before they are written
Sometimes the silence guides the way

It was in 'time' that faith had all the answers
A way to have a broken day
So convincing was that lovely smile
I wish the truth had never, came

Somewhere within this darkness
This empty feeling is OK
After all, what is a memory
Only something more we never say

How shall 'life' form a new beginning
Leaving behind a precious ghost
Maybe love was a lie I told myself
Because it was you I loved the most
