Air raid sirens scream
German bombers are coming
Death to fall
Bringing destruction and death.
Panicked people run for air raid shelters
Waiting there for rain of death to end
Emerging to find houses rubble
Dead among the ruins.
Streets ablaze
Roads smashed and broken
Living and dead buried where houses stood
Death has reaped asunder.
In London's East End
Where green grocer's shop once stood
Flies a flag fluttering in the breeze
Inscribed "Still open for business".

I admire the poet's succinct portrayal of London under German bombings during WW II. No doubt there was loss of life and property, Germans could not break the spirit of British govt., forces and people. Thanks for sharing this patriotic poem.
