Lonesome Creek Poem by keith brown

Lonesome Creek

Lonesome creek

All alone on lonesome creek, on a dark and stormy night
A kangaroo jumped from the bush and gave me quite a fright
I grab him by the tail and jumped upon his back
and together we went bouncing down a nearby outback track

He bounced and weaved enough to bring a droving man too tears
But I fought and kept me seat as I clung on to his ears
Eventually the bobbing stopped, too the Roo I softly spoke
I put a halter on him cause I thought that he was broke
And
I led him back to camp too recover from our stouch
Andpopped me billy and me swag into the old Roo, s pouch
I awoke in the morning to a god almighty din
The Roo was jumping up and down on me billy tin

So took back me halter and me saddle before they both got broke
The kookaburras, laughing fits could they could see the joke
But the Roo took off like a rocket with me swag and with me billy
And left me there on lonesome, alone and looking silly

So if you see a cranky Roo, with a swag drinking billy tea
Please ask him very politely to give em back to me!
