Long Gone Poem by Deluke Muwanigwa

Long Gone

Rating: 5.0

Long gone.

The human spirit has been deeply hurt
A bird with broken wings
Unable to fend for itself
Failing to drink from the stream of compassion
One brother wishing another dead
Cheering as the soul detaches the spirit

Long gone are the days of peace
Long gone are the days of tolerance
Long gone is the magnanimity of universal suffrage
Long gone is racial equality
Long gone the human spirit
The soul long gone
