Lost Priorities Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Lost Priorities

Dumped into the oceans and seas,
As if waste from luxury cruise ships.
Has been a corruption permitted,
To choke life and the quality of it...
From all humanity.
By thieves releasing their treacherous misdeeds.

Not all of this pollution that exist,
Can be blamed on those wealthy and rich.
Being deaf, dumb and blind,
Can be attributed to conservatives...
Liberals.
And others religiously committed,
To worshipping delusions.
With minds focused upon all they can get.
From lives spent living,
Decades memorializing demoralizing decadence.
Fit to float barely above overflowing gutters.

Leaving consciousness behind.
Not to find in minds in times like these.
Yet to come will be the ones,
Identified to have been crazed.
With a willingness to destroy themselves,
Over greed to feed a prosperity.
As lost priorities of keeping quality to live,
Fades from sight.
Allowed by division and conflicts.
Done to do,
Without enlightenment or a vision.
Or a common sense to recognize.
To use as a tool to prevent,
The welcoming of a disaster to perceive...
Destruction to create it leads to greatness.
But...
This greatness is of what to discover?
What's gone can not be overnight recovered.
Or be redefined to what that greatness,
Could have been.
