Love is not Love

(a poem by Shakil Ahmed written during college days)

Love is not love
If it is lost in the distant horizon,
Like the setting sun of the evening
Leaving no mark to trace it
Like the carefull deer of green forest.

Love is not like a ripple
That is created after throwing a stone
In the bosom of serene lake
And vanishes before touching the shore.

Love is not like the fair daffodill
Of some unknown lake
That die just after bloom
And don't wait for the next morning sun.

Love is not love
If it flows in a zigzag way,
Like the whispering river,
To merge with fathomless ocean.

Love is not like the breast of a whore,
That is touched by every discoloured hand
In the dead of shameless nights.

Love is not like the crescent moon
That can't alight the dark world
With its faint rays of light.

Love is like the round moon
And reigns in the sky like a queen
Who has no substitute or parallel.

Love is like the morning sun
That moves in its own axis
And never shakes or slips from its path.

Love is like the ocean,
Always remains full with water
Never lessens like the river
In seasons of spring and winter.

Love is much like a mountain,
Fixed and steady
And never shakes like whispering reeds
It can face every tempest
That blows often in life
Shattering our cherished dreams.

Love is invisible by its own nature
Much like the pearl of ocean
That radiates light in the dark and fearful night

Love is a sacred feeling
Emanates from core of our heart
Even Pirates and Bedwin cannot deny
The call of love, living in the bosom of desert..

Love can melt even the solid stone
That lie neglected in the cave of hill
Farhad proved it long ago
Cutting the stones at his will.

Love is not the lust of evil
Rather it's a desire of heart and soul.

Love is like the star that glitters
In the arms of infinite sky
Alighting our transperant heart
With its own concealed art.

Love has its tender wings
To flap in the dying summer
To wander in the world of rainbow.

Love has its enchanting music
And can whisper a melodious tune
Spreading over a gust of gentle breeze.
True love is a rare posession
Like the diamond of unknown land
Exposing us to the fragrance of
Far away heaven.

Love doesn't have colour like black and white
Love doesn't have any religion
Love doesn't have any race
Love is ready to embrace anyone
With its soft impalpable hands.
Love knows how to sacrifice, and
How to adjust like millions of luminous stars
Love can heal the fatal wounds
Spread in whole universe.
Love is like panacea
That can cure all maladies of life.
