Once there was a girl,
Her eyes were dreamy and blue,
Lips shone with a luscious red like hue.
What it takes to win her heart,
was something to which no man had a clue.
She was incredibly pretty,
had enough feminine tricks in her kitty.
Wore a mystic smile, dazzled people for miles.
loved dancing in the rain,
all the men tried taming her but in vain,
for she left everyone stunned in a daze.
Then came a man steadfast and stern.
Swept her off her feet, enthralled her with his charm.
It was in his arms that she felt all the warmth.
He married her and made her, his.
Led her to believe, she had found her bliss.
Things went well untill they were not.
All the passion vanished, all the love drained,
Four monsoons passed without her dancing in the rains.
A lugubrious dullness filled her life,
she felt no love for the man to whom she was a wife.
She languished in despair, waited for things to change,
after all it was all so strange.
Oh what a predicament, oh what a plight,
she was no longer a breathtaking sight.
Then one day, another man came along,
Brought the mystic smile back to her face,
enthralled her with his warm embrace,
once again made her dance in the rain.
She had her moments, but did not realise,
It was nothing but just a reprieve.
When he went away,
she sat on the window quietly,
watching the rain fall,
thinking she just had to drift with her life,
that stood in front of her so tall.

You have written this poem beautifully with so much compassion siddharth. I love the metaphor of dancing as it painted pictures in my mind. It is not a happy ever after poem, but life continues and one day it might be. Thank you for sharing. 10 love Karin
'four monsoons passed without her dancing in the rain'. A very poignant line. When the music has ended, hope has no place left to go. Excellent write. Kind wishes, Sandra
