Lovers Of The Night - Poem by Bel Gav

He sings to her without nary a sound
just one look, soulful and proud
The world outside is all but forgotten
he touches her, turns her around..

and he says,

“The wheel of life turns and changes as we do,
we may be apart but I think of you.
You may not know but tears I cry
when I look back & the pain I cannot deny.”

She weeps in his arms, of the five and one
she can never go back, forward she will have to run
Onward on, with him by her side
with the sad truth that only at night..

and she says,

“The wheel of life turns and changes as we do,
we may be together now, but time will undo
You may not know that these tears I cry
for when the time comes, I will have to fly.”

Crying, he pulls her up to her feet
draws her to his embrace without missing a beat
Tomorrow’s a ‘coming and he holds on tight
all he knows now is that holding her is right..

and he says,

“The wheel of life turns and changes as we do,
you may resist but we belong to me & you
It may be unclear now, so tears I cry
We are a team, so hold on..please try..
we can survive this, you and I..”

So they dance together, shadows by the moonlight
both lamenting and celebrating, hearts in flight
Defying the three fates with all their might
two of but a few, lovers of the night..
