Love's Fading Echo Poem by April Humason

Love's Fading Echo

So much time has passed
Since our hate was cast
Questions never asked
For a sweet love of the past

We were just two teens
Full of lust's allure
As we thrust head over heels
Into a trust of forever love

But our daughter was created
As our destiny was fated
For our time together was dated
Leaving negative words stated

Eleven years have passed since we split
Neither of us able to admit our mistakes
But we were just young and misfit
Neither of us ready to submit to forever

Now all this time has passed
As our new life's cast
Questions only asked about our daughter
For a sweet love of the past

In the silence of the years gone by
Love's echo still lingers, a distant cry
In tender moments, it softly sighs
Yet faded, like stars in morning's sky

We were once entwined, hearts a-blaze
A love that seemed destined to amaze
But life's twists and turns took their toll
Leaving memories, a bittersweet scroll

Yet through it all, our bond remains
In the daughter that forever sustains
Our love may have dimmed, but it's not gone
A legacy of a sweet love that once shone

As we journey forward, new paths charted
Our daughter's love keeps us connected
For though the past may fade and wane
Love's tender essence forever will remain.

This is sad, but real. Everything happens for a reason, maybe the only purpose of that relationship is so that a bright soul like your daughter could exist. And at the very least she came from love. Thanks for sharing! ~
