Lullaby Poem by David Blake

Lullaby

Somewhere alone in the still
darkness I hear your voice
teasing my ear. Longing for
more of what is no more, I
search in vain, lost in sorrow
driven like a madman I can’t
stop what I know is insane.
Shadowy fingers wrapped
entwined in the spirit of the lover
that in no longer mine. Visions
of death, memories of life, chaos
calling out my thoughts so unclear,
yet I dance in the rain. Cleansed
by my suffering and pain, it is
your haunting eyes across the
plains of time that still remain.
