Lyrical persuasions of love in despair,
My sight holds my love ensnared,
The sullen look in my eyes they ask,
To my reflection in the mirror, why did you bask?
Your heart taken away by the antics,
An enchantress by a display so frantic,
Your mate frenzied, aloof from malice,
He drank poisoned love from the chalice.
What followed this, was thus deluge,
Wrath of jilt had no refuge,
Closing it in a slash of knife,
I opened her amorous breast, end the strife.
A guttural sound, a low moan,
And lo' thy temptress on the ground was thrown,
There she writhe in her pool of blood,
Her profanity, I bury in the mud.
And if the stupor would never end,
My lover and I would never rend,
The game of love I vanquish,
Gaol in setting will see me languish.
Soon afterward, the curtains fall,
Leaving the audience in appall,
Plunged in sorrow, they make no noise,
An ode to the performers that stand in poise.
An insightful love poem nicely articulated with clarity of thought and mind. Very heartfelt. Thanks for sharing Reema.
