Son, It's like I told you,
I was with you from the door
but with no response from you,
I thought you were trying to ignore.
The resources I had, well,
it's not like that anymore
but I'm still here to help ‘cause
that is what a mother's for.
I'm keeping my distance
and giving you your space
I never tried to run your life.
See, I know that's not my place.
We both have different lives to lead
and different ways to go
but I'll always worry and love you;
just in case you didn't know.
I realize that as a man
you have to make your own mistakes
and there are risks you'll take
while looking to get a break.
Even though you're a grown man now,
you are still my baby boy.
When God sent you to me,
I got a blanket full of joy.
So, I'll still pray for you,
every night and day for you.
I'll cheer you when you do right
and blast you when you're wrong
‘cause I'm your friend in a New York minute
but I'm your mama all day long!

I love miss Ebo's works, and they always work well with the Audiences I share them with!
Thank you for that. I will continue to try to write poems that inform, educate and entertain.
