Masquerade Poem by Donna Nimmo

Masquerade

Rating: 5.0

No one will ever see me or know who I am
I hide myself from all the world, the mask you see is a sham
I can never let anyone else in
My heart so bruised and tattered from way back when

Taking no chances, feeling so aloof
You can say how you love me, but where's the proof
I write on, because there's nothing left to say
Leave me as you found me and be on your way

Trust and honor, that can never be you or anyone
The price of love so much for me, I'm done
So leave me in this fortress to wither and die
Don't be so sad, It was me that said goodbye!
