Michelle David (Aug.21,1988 - Oct.15,2008) Poem by Kate Nielsen

Michelle David (Aug.21,1988 - Oct.15,2008)

Inhale and hold, smack it 'til it's red, slowly push the plunger, fall down on your bed. Taste the colors around you, smell the sounds you hear, hold onto the moment, for this world is now so clear. Grab the junk. Feel the funk. Act like you're drunk. Then you get sunk. And your money is gone and so is the high, scamper through your phone list to find the right guy. Pick up the phone, wait for the tone, give him everything you own, in the end you're still alone. At the bottom of the barrel you could care less, shoot up all you have to get rid of the stress. Blast Stevie Ray Vaughan, your 'friend' plays along, and sings you a song, your mind fades to gone. But this time it's not the same, it's a whole other game. Looking at your vein, kneeling over in pain. Your skin is on fire but inside your cold, your mind clouds over and turns into mold. You begin to shake and your eyes roll back, the shaking stops, your world turns black… Now here I sit, talking to a stone, thinking I could have done something if I'd only known. I don't know how to feel but filled with hate, I know it was an accident but I carry this weight. Michelle, my darling, your life came to and end. I'll always remember this autumn, my friend.

IT IS AN EMOTION THAT FAILS TO GO. A FRIENDSHIP THAT'S UNIQUE. I HOPE YOU GET OVER IT SOME DAY, NOW THAT SHE IS GONE. IT PAINS TO LOSS SUCH A LOVELY FRIEND A LOVELY CRAFT WORK OF A POEM.

I empathise, Kate. There are all sorts of emotions connected to this piece - hate and love, anger, sadness. And now it has all slipped out of your fingers..... well expressed. Fran x
