Mine To Me My Own Mind Is Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Mine To Me My Own Mind Is

Once...
I thought it was gone.
Then I didn't think it wrong.
When I fell in deep despair.
Staying there and not to care.

But over time I gave that up.
With a getting out of those dug ruts.
Realizing I wanted much more,
In my life,
To expect it!

Now to me my own mind is.
Mine to me my mind just reaches.
Now to me my own mind is,
To use and not abuse to wallow in pits.
Now to me my own mind is.
Mine to me my own mind reaches,
For the stars.
And beyond.

No one made me crawl on ground.
No.
No one made my moaning sounds.
To hear them heard but me,
Weep.
Seeking desperately for some sympathy.

No one showed me how to woe.
No.
Or do it in a motion slow.
To be abandoned by my own shadow.
Once...
I thought it got up and gone.
And...
Not to find it.
Once...
I had thought it was gone.
My mind.

Now...
To me my own mind is.
Mine to leave that grieving.
Knowing I can reach beyond stars.
Knowing I can reach beyond limits.
Defining liberation as mine!
