Missed Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Missed

When something is missed.
To have had dismissed it.
Difficult it is,
To avoid it reminisced.

When what is given,
Easily becomes less to value.
The appreciation it should have received.
Is not achieved.
Until from one's memory,
It remains to stay refusing to leave.

Many take for granted.
What they pray for and get.
Thinking what arrives,
Does not meet or quality...
Their high expectations to indentify.

Until that day,
One awakens to realize.
What they wanted to prioritize,
Came too easily for them to get.
Denying it just as quick.
And suddenly they wish,
For that prize disguised...
To rid.
But now,
Belonging to another.
Kept valued with open eyes.
To feel blessed and grateful,
It was theirs to treasure.
For as long as they wish.
With it known what is.
And why they prayed everyday,
Awaiting for it to come and recognize.
With it kept appreciated for what it is.
And not what it could have been,
To ignore until it bores for something more.
As many ungrateful prove to often do.
