Mistakes To Forgive Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Mistakes To Forgive

An intent to do to others done.
May be considered for some,
Recovering from feelings of guilt.
As a mistake made to confess it.
And mistakes to forgive,
Seems reasonable to do.
Very few would refuse.
To prolong giving attitude.

However,
An intent to pre-meditate it.
To be aware of it done.
Is not that easy to forgive,
The event and when it occurred.
These activities,
Can stay on one's nerves.
And a forgiveness to give it,
Requires an untightening of jaws.
And an attempt to normalized,
One's breath.
After several visits with God.
Hoping prayers to be answered.
With time given to understand,
The difference between an intent meant.
And a mistake another has made.
To know their definitions,
are not the same.
This,
Those familiar with Webster already know.
And this familiarity,
Makes it extremely difficult...
To forgive an intent.
When someone has achieved,
What it was they meant to do.

"If I knew,
I would get 'that' reaction from you.
I would not have done what I did."

-What reaction.
I did not react to you at all.
If fact, I ignored you.-

"I know.
And you have no idea,
How disappointed that left me."
