Moderato Maestoso Poem by Ahmad Shiddiqi

Moderato Maestoso

(dedicated to Mr. Nikolaj Znaider, a great violinist)

almond trees are blossoming
and crocuses which bloom
beautify our fragile hearts

the furrows were filled
with sulphuric water
a drinking cure

we're walking along
signposted trails
diverse folklore

Baroque castle palace
exquisite chinaware
decorative patterns

triumphant
march-like
dignified

majestic
heroic
large

(inspired by Frédéric Bazille's Paysage au bord du Lez)
