Monition Poem by Barry Middleton

Monition

one should speak up to hate
it filters through the air
like toxic gas or fear

and who will take a stand
protection for the frail
against abuse and rage

it closes like a fog
a poison yellow cloud
has settled on the earth

I know it can't be killed
it can't be caged or jailed
it can't be bound by law

one must speak up to it
one must condemn the beast
and raise the human soul

And I see you doing this in multiple ways. So a monition is a warning of impending danger. And I see silence as a part of the problem. We have a silent majority so often in politics that the vocal minorities can often hijack our political offices. Its time to speak up.

I think the country is speaking up and drifting toward progressive views, The liberal minority of the past is becoming the progressive majority. Unfortunately this produces push back from the far right. But the harder they push, the harder we must push. I see young people doing just that. There is still hope for progress though progress is always rather plodding in our system.
