Monumental Buyer's Remorse Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Monumental Buyer's Remorse

Biases, bigotry.
And racist beliefs to keep them,
As structured images built...
Upon aging foundations,
Once praised to stay sitting...
As a written to falsify,
Heroic victories.
Are crumbling quick.
Like sandcastles made of sand.
Before all races awakening to comprehend,
The worshipping of deception...
Is no defense against truth.
When people begin to realize,
Their quality of life to have been duped...
Can no longer continue without demanding,
Statues and images that symbolize lies told...
Must be removed.
Or there can be no progress to look forward to,
If reality to keep concealed...
Is smothered to cover up a truth.
A truth these days,
More have begun to seek.
Kept and meant to keep under the rubble,
Being removed to finally find it hidden!

"You know,
All this time...
We have been worshipping lies and deception! "

-No!
You've got to be kidding me.
And all this time,
Truth had been...
Right under our accepting to be deceived noses.
Who knew how monumental,
Lies to tell them well to sell...
Could leave so many people feeling buyer's remorse.-
