Moonlight On The Water Poem by Myrtle Thomas

Moonlight On The Water

Moonlight On The Water
So lovely is the picture of the moon beams
upon the moving water of my day dreams
of a time in my yesterday when a young man held my hand
and I saw the moonlight on his face shining so grand

And yet my lover! I esteem your my true love
your reality to me as the universe above
that never fades with time, but in our energy continues to shine
O how fortunate I seem to be to have your feelings so fine
I try to return it with respect and charm
for your the gentleman still holding my arm
and your eyes still sparkle and shine with the moonlight
as they did on country rides in the dark of the night

' O love my choice ' I picked from three courtiers who charmed me
with the hope that only my love do see
I married the man who wanted me the most
who was quiet in spirit with nothing to boast
A beautiful man the love of my life
I in determination of the covenant became your wife
to love and honor til the end of my day, in earthly sleep
and in the night when the moonlight is full, I recall
the moment I decided, your love to keep
Gentlemen court and they spark
but it was you who won my heart
many moonlight nights now have
past through the years
and I still rejoice in the moonlight of our love
as it reflects on the waters of our life
