Moonlit Night Poem by Unnikrishnan Sivasankara Menon

Moonlit Night

Rating: 5.0

The moon peeps over the clouds
With a cool disarming smile, as
Shadows wave welcome to him.

The sea purrs in sorrow
Breathing heavily and eyes moist
As the dusky sun left her for the day.

Stars continue to blink at the flowers
who have just fell asleep listening
to the lullaby of their vines in breeze.

The breeze lingers around a little
then vanishes into the clouds
Sporting a warm smile in the moonlight.

The sensual fragrance of jasmine
Saturates the breezeless night
Leaves me with an unknown longing.

An owl hoots somewhere at a distance
Did I hear a nightingale singing softly
Above the din of unsolicited nocturnal silence!

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Moonlit nights excited me right from my childhood. That is when all the ‘spirits come out of their hiding

Moonlit nights are so romantic and nostalgic

It is said in the fables that in the moonlit nights ‘spirits of women' wander free in search of healthy men to sate their thirst…But my spirits soar when I wander in the moonlit nights…
