Safe and sound,
Inside you.
Many people were around me,
But, none like you.
You were in discomfort,
You couldn't toss or turn,
I couldn't help but only learn.
You took utmost care of me,
To not let me down,
Even inside you I swam,
And, I never got drowned.
Carried me for months,
With all the pain;
Brought me to this world,
With energy all drained.
From a tiny cell to a woman I am today,
You moulded me to the best,
Treated me like a Fay.
A lifetime would be less,
To thank you enough,
For your benevolent presence,
In today's world so rough.
All your life you lived for your daughters,
While bringing us up,
you never faltered.
I wish I have sipped in,
Your motherly trait so true,
So that, someday, my children recount,
'I see a reflection of granny in you'.
