Motherland Poem by priscah Mutswenje

Motherland

Rating: 5.0

I long to travel to my motherland, in the rurals
I long to use the smooth smart roads
I will take a ride with everyone in the biggest bus
That will let me see the best of your services
That KERRA gave my lovely grannies

I am a relaxed traveller, excited above odds
As me why, and I will show you these broad roads
That give the driver peace and harmony is words
So he drives whispering a sweet piece lads
KERRA, you are God send, chosen in codes

The roads I see now make me happy
I long to stop and touch its winding wavy
Corners craftily made by the engineers' savvy
Passable and friendly, they are no longer muddy
KERRA, you made my people proud and chatty

I am not dreaming, it is the wonderful work that I see
I am not crazy to shout about the bridges across the sea
It is not our worry to wonder how our rural got this legacy
No one struggles to reach the city or development oversee
They ride, drive and trek like the ancient Pharisee

Granny says her business is doing great
Uncle sings a jubilant song of his sweat
Because of the good road, his trade is sure bet
Sugarcane reaching industries in time as set
Milk getting to the diaries fresh and fit

Thanks, KERRA you are a concerned firm
Look at the loud ululations in the Farm
Beautifying our sorrounding in a fair term
The worst times are over, bells now chime
KERRA, I celebrate you, a hero of this time

I have no fear of going back to my homeland
I long to settle there are till our ancestral land
I will plant enough food from motherland
In the countryside, I can restore the woodland
KERRA, you did us proud by molding my vacationland

I now enjoy the peace of the countryside
The roads I see are broad and wide
I ride my bike with my cousins to the roadside
My skating wheel gives me a beautiful slide
KERRA, I appreciate that you have offered shed
