Murky Still Flows The River Poem by Aniruddha Pathak

Murky Still Flows The River

Rating: 5.0

Murky flows the river once again,
A cause caused it to gain, cause the strain,
A stitch here a stitch there
And returns the old tare,
A gain never is gained without pain.

River Godavari, not far from where I was vacationing at Khadakwasla near Poona, was recently cleaned up for the Kumbha mela (fair)at Nasik. As a short cut, water was released from a nearby dam to flush out the filth. But then Kumbha itself caused it to be dirty as before. It was like treating a serous scar with a band-aid.

A serious problem where band-aid kind of solutions would never help, no fire-fighting, drastic long term steps. Thank you, Mahtab Bangalee.
