Musical Possession Poem by Daniel Parker

Musical Possession

This six string weighs too heavy; it's played its final note,
My passions and my motives seem all gone,
No lyrics come to paper, no songs left to devote,
I've searched for inspiration, yet found none,

My fingers, always bleeding, playing for my soul,
The devil seems to make me play some more,
The music, once so happy, now darkened, black like coal,
The beauty that once flowed is filled with gore,

Possessed, I feel no meaning, the notes come rushing back,
Yet darker, no more feeling, just the pain,
The devil breathes inside me; he makes me soul attack,
Nothing to lose, yet everything to gain

The six string weighed so heavy, yet now it feels so light,
The passion that was gone has now returned,
I feel somewhat amazing; I could go on all night,
The lamp of passion truly now has burned.
