My Adorable Wife Poem by Perdita Young (Hanna Wang)

My Adorable Wife

"Housework is the man's duty,
Now women enjoy equality"
One day Mrs.Adorable
Said to me.

"If I do all of our task,
Then what is your share,
May I venture to ask?
You spoke of equality…"

"I would bear babies.
That would be
My RESPONSIBILITY! "

"What! I wait on you day after day,
Just for baby-bearing,
As you did say? "

Upon that she gazed on me and grew tearful:
"Well, I tell you, dear hubby,
Armies are maintained for years, people say,
Just for some future use, on some future day."

May 12th,2013. Loosely based on "My Adorable Wife"(a cyber story) , on Mother's Day,2013.

i have returned to inform you (isn't inform much fancier than a simple tell! ?) that i intend to include this 'work' in my upcoming October 'showcase' of poems by PH poets. thanks. ask if you have questions. your name will be prominently displayed along with the poem's text. and i see your response now to my previous comments. thanks; i would not normally return to look for responses. YES! PROOFREADING! ! I'VE done 'tons' of it on my poems as well as others. bri :)

(cont.) p.s. i've thought P. Young is a female. i still think 'she' is. i figured this poem was a fictional story, but i thought it might use her and her husband as characters. one never can be sure of a poem's truthfulness or WHO it is about! !

(cont.) but if i had WANTED children, PLUS if i could 'practice making babies' with my wife ANY TIME I WANTED TO, i might side with my wife's explanation re armies. Armies DO have to be drilled to 'keep in readiness', DON'T THEY? to MyPoemList. bri :) (cont.)

yes, funny....sort of. ha ha. in the explanatory line following body of poem, use Loosely based, not Loosed based. i'm guessing it is just a typo. :) I'm guessing also that BOTH sides have a somewhat valid 'argument' for why they feel the way they do about equality (of the sexes, in a marriage) . i, Bri, never 'wanted' to have children, but gave in and 'had' one with my 1st (of 4) wives. Thanks a million, Bri~~ :) It is a typo... proof-reading is always so necessary...and perhaps i need to reread other pieces also to erase possible typos. I guess most couples will choose to have children eventually. That is one of the important reasons for entering marriage(? ? ?) .
