My Birthday A - Short Report - Poem by pushpasaurabha sugandha
My Birthday—a short report
I wish you were here with us today
For this day you know is my birthday
To host a party this day was your decision
Our daughter and grandson are here to celebrate the occasion.
Its only a number that I am today sixty
Well in my work and duty there is no laxity
Arranged at temple today are poojas and poor feeding
I am happy to have everybody’s blessings and greetings.
Our Grandson has ordered for the Birthday cake
He says to me “amamma please cut this for our sake”
To see all this, I wish you were in our view
Well, for certain, few things are not in our purview
Gathered here at home are friends and relatives
Who by their presence have made this place look festive
Happiest today of course is our little grandson
Undoubtedly he is bright like the rising sun
I have kept up your word to be happy
Inspite of the life now being a little choppy
Music, reading and work keep me occupied
Prayers, silence and meditation make me feel purified.
Your gift to me for my birthday is love and affection
Which I always cherish with utmost devotion
We will be together again, in next incarnation
This is to God my true and sincere application.
I am this city’s responsible denizen
And I now join the club of senior citizen
All eligible concessions I believe I can now avail
I send you this report through my heart’s special mail.
