The Adventure Of Living. Day 92 - Poem by Susan Williams

Didn't do anything extraordinary today,
Didn't do anything ordinary extraordinarily well either,
But I still had an extraordinary day today
Just being happy for no reason at all- besides the fact
that the ones I love are alive today, alive and alive and alive today,
and the day was spangled with golden sunbright,
and the birds were singing their hearts out,
and kids were laughing on their way to school,
and God was whispering in the breeze.
and I...
I was living in a ringing of bells today.

Topic(s) of this poem: adventure, happiness, joy, life, life and death

In our lives often extraordinary days come in which we get happiness and enjoy our lives or we meat hindrances and get sadness. In joyful life we enjoy the singing of the birds, school going of kids and their laughing, whispering of God in the breeze. Beautifully painted. Nice work. Thanks. (Report)Reply

You've transformed an ordinary day into an extraordinary experience. You've made it a moment of calm and peace. Brilliant writing! (Report)Reply

    Susan Williams(8/28/2016 4:38:00 PM)

May we all transform our ordinary days into extraordinary days- - those days of sorrow and dread we can get through them with dignity and faith but it's the ordinary day that our life is generally made up of and those are the days in which we can find magic and joy in the ordinary, in the typical, in the little things, in the small successes. We are blessed with so many ordinary days we can transform into monumental good memories. Thank you for your kind comment!

How you have transferred an ordinary day into an extra ordinary one by the gift of your perception.... We all know that life is a string of ordinary and very rarely extra ordinary moments.... It s our perception that adds sunshine to life. Enjoy life while we can. The very fact that our dear ones are alive today is a cause for us to rejoice... Unfortunately the happy moments skip by us unnoticed.... As Milton says- 'The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven..! Beautiful write! Top marks! (Report)Reply

Thank you, Valsa, for your incredibly wise comment and including that quote from Milton [those classic poets knew how to put truths into words]. And thank you for your supportive and encouraging words.

THE DAY WAS SPANGLED WITH GOLDEN SUNBRIGHT - I love that image! It conmtains the whole poem within it. because it shows as other things you cite show, everyday has it extrordinary component if we look closely and appreciate deeply. Moods like this overcome us like a summer day, Shakespeare wrote, and your poem shows how we can divert the Black Dog of Depression by deftly dodging him and giving ourselves over to things that are SUNBRIGHT! (Report)Reply

    Susan Williams(5/26/2016 3:44:00 PM)

I'm so glad you picked up on SUNBRIGHT! ! ! I thought perhaps people were reading it as sunlight or were reading it as sunlight because of a typo! Yea! ! ! ! ! ! You responded to that entire line the way I hoped a reader would! ! ! ! I threw everything I had into that line to make it SING with sparkly joy-joy! Daniel, you just brought some sunbright into my day! ! ! ! Thank you for helping all of us write better by noting when our attempts work for you! You can take the teacher out of the classroom but thank goodness you can never take the classroom out of the teacher. TEACHERS RULE! ! ! ! !

Now that's what you call gratefully happy
In a most wonderfully, simple poetical way.

We get to realize how much we really have by being well and alive.

You have been a blessing to the writers on this site- you encourage and point out what you like in a poem. I have been on poetry groups on Facebook and the members did not comment on each other. Sometimes they liked. That's not what I am about- -I hate talking to walls. I have been so energized by the members on this site who take the time to comment and encourage. So when I say thank you I truly THANK YOU for you coming by and spending time with my poems and I promise I will always TRY to make the time spent worth your while.

    and I...
I was living in a ringing of bells today.

Good days are rarely given...they are made, What a wonderful reminder to find God and beauty and happiness in the details. There is poetry in everything if we just STOP and remind ourselves that we CAN live in a moment where we choose to....Just being happy for no reason at all- besides the fact
that the ones I love are alive today, alive... and alive... and alive today

We can learn to find joy- there are enough little events going on in our lives that if we sit down and watch them we get a little joy fix. Like try watching two cats share a food dish without breaking out laughing. There's always something going on that will put a smile in our heart- it's my favorite survival tactic to get through a day. Thank you for reading and commenting, Perry, your comments are always encouraging and thoughtful [as in full of thought].

Theo, thank you for coming by and reading my poem and commenting on it. I am sorry to hear you suffer from a chronic illness, but it sounds like you already look for joy in your life. Let's start a revolution- make it a must to find and describe at least one moment in the day that made us glad we are alive to witness it, to feel it, to share it. I wonder if that could change the world.... Hey! ! ! Thanks for the 10 and all those sweet pluses! ! ! [See you just planted a joy flower in my day! ! ]
