My Bonny Boy Poem by Joyce Hemsley

My Bonny Boy

The bounteous sea sings a merry song
With lyrics that tell me he's coming home.
I have been waiting so very long
And now my heart holds joys unknown.

Behold! I see a ship a-passing
Across the horizon, sirens blasting.
Oh tell me, tell me I'm not dreaming
And soon I'll see his smile a-gleaming.

Ship ahoy ~ come sailing my way
Please bring my 'bonny boy' back to me.
I will count the minutes of each day
Until from longing my heart is free.

The swirling sea is never wrong
When she sings her Autumn song.
