My Christmas Love Poem Poem by Paula Glynn

My Christmas Love Poem

Mariah Carey's Christmas song plays on the radio
'All I Want For Christmas Is You'
Reminding me of your true love
Reminiscing about the past we forever treasure
Memories so intoxicating, fresh and real
Even though what we had felt surreal.

Our first special Christmas together
Bringing close friends and family to celebrate
Talking and laughing in nostalgic snowy weather
The table filled with delicious Christmas food
That does create enchantment and delight
Like your eyes reflected in the candlelight.

The colourful twinkling red, green and blue lights of Christmas
That magically adorn houses throughout the neighbourhood
Families getting together to enjoy and celebrate Christmastime
Preparing meals of turkey and vegetables and all the trimmings
Drinking their gently heated mulberry wine
Just having a cheerful time for all that is good with new beginnings.

We open presents from underneath the tree
Wondering what delight you have gotten me
A Pandora jewellery box sitting there wrapped
Concealing a gorgeous engagement ring
Its sparkling diamonds and pearls
More than a fad or some basic bracelet of bling.

You ask me to marry you and I must say yes
You shall see me in my wonderful white wedding dress
And the holy church shall sit in admiration and awe
For together we brave the world and do impress
Our wedding a time our love we happily confess
And we shall hang our Christmas memories on the wall.
