My Contention Poem by Ehsan Ehsan

My Contention

MY CONTENTION
No, no, no, my contention is not that one
I do not want to say why my forefathers
Had been poor and miserable leading a wretched life
And why some people became the masters and the land lords
My contention is who made them poor and miserable
And the professional labors ever working and working
I want to know how and when the lords and masters
Were made a sort of the ruling class in the world
How they became dominants and super to common
Had they some extraordinary human qualities
Or it was only that they were the obedient
To some usurpers who had occupied the lands
That did not in any way belong to them
But to the original natives of the occupied lands
We have to think again and again on this wrong
If the present democracies in the third world
Are really practical and beneficial to all
The people of a third world country and people
If it is possible for a poor but intellectual person
To become a leading political hero and a leader
If not so, should we keep on raising slogans?
For a system which is only for the vested interest?
