My Daemons Poem by Matthew Holloway

My Daemons

Walking with my daemons
numbered in their names
I know and name each monster
which haunts my psyche
some I humour and accept
others I despise and fear
there are those still unnamed
-
Shadow Wolf
depressions stalker
the blight in the shadows
the whispers in the dark
the doubt in almost everything
the undoing of a life
the coldest blade of all
howling at the gate
-
North Giant
the anger and rage
the vengeful and vindictive
that violence within
often unspoken and hid away
without mercy or empathy
a bloodlust unbound
screaming in battle
-
Jester
a being of mischief
the joker of the pack
the mischief maker
that wicked tongue
often spoken too soon
who pleasures in the torment
of all who cross paths
-
Devils Snake
whom I fear the most
the one who sneaks and coils
around the soul
slowly crushing
whose fangs deliver poison
numbing the world
