My Friend Poem by Sallie Howson

My Friend

Rating: 4.6

Why do you love me my friend?

I love you for the lightness of your soul,
For the laughter and happiness you bring,
For the beautiful pictures you create
On the canvas
And on the page.

And if my soul becomes burdened
So I can not talk to you
For the pain in my heart
And the tears in my eyes
Will you still love me my friend?

I will.

And if my eyes become dim
So my paintings are unfinished
For the loss of vision
And the lack of passion
Will you still love me my friend?

I will.

And if my fingers become rigid
So I can send you no more
My stories and thoughts
And poems and words
Will you still love me my friend?

I will.

For if tomorrow when you wake
Your abilities are gone
I will see the very core of you
And I will love you more
……..my friend.
