My Heart Belongs To The River Poem by Randy McClave

My Heart Belongs To The River

My soul isn't in the bed
My soul it is afloat,
It is on the mighty Ohio river
It is alone upon my boat.

I see the fishes as they jump
The boaters as they cruise,
The fishermen as they fish
I see the river from different views.

I hear the river as she sings
And I watch the birds as they fly,
I am a great explorer
As I float like the clouds in the sky.

I wear a captain's hat
As I walk to the port and bow,
Now I begin to steer
As I noticed a distant scow.

My soul is sailing upon the waves
Feeling the rivers breeze,
My soul now begins to dream
Wishing it was on one of the mighty seas.
