My Heart's In My Mouth Poem by Orlando Belo

My Heart's In My Mouth

I'm distraught without you
and so full of distress.
My heart's up in my mouth
and not in my chest.

What more can I possibly say?
What else can I do?
The times for smiling has ended,
I'm so far away from you.

The sun ceases to shine,
how could it when we are apart.
Then comes the long dark nights
and the forever aching heart.

Could it be that you are missing me
nearly as much, as I miss you?
I don't know why you haven't written,
you said and promised to?

Have I never been in your thoughts
since we've been apart?
I suppose you have found another love
and given them your heart?

Why don't you answer the phone,
are you really not there?
Please tell me that you are alive and well
and help to put an end to my despair.
